xxSwitched Servers! | 07 Jun 10

14:22:12 by Putnam | Views: 7400 | Comments: 3

ProgrammingSEO.com and LinuxAdept.com are now being served by MDDHosting!  I bought a years worth of payed hosting last night, and the move went successfully(except for avatars, you will have to re-upload them)!  These servers have way better upload speeds than my old one, and that's great!

MDDHosting server - Basic Plan
Dual Xeon 5520 Nehalem - 8 Cores + HT (virtually 16 cores)
RAID-10 SAS Performance Disk Space  (I get 10GB)
12 GB DDR3 RAM
Daily backups
120GB Monthly Bandwidth
~8MB U/L speed

My Old Server
Intel Pentium Pro P6 (from 1995, 66 MHz frequency I think)
5GB HDD and a 3GB HDD
512 KB RAM
~0.5MB U/L speed

I got a year of hosting for only $38.25(supposed to be $76.50) with the 'half-price' coupon.  Great deal.

So yeah, great step for this site.  I may open a download section in the future for scripts and what-not.

I have created a new forum, and recommend you guys to join it!  As you can tell by the title, it is a Linux dedicated forum.  The URL is http://www.linuxadept.com/.  Even if you don't know anything about Linux, you should still join and post in the hidden 'Secret Hangout'.

xxDowntime To Occur This Week | 03 May 10

22:27:19 by Putnam | Views: 137 | Comments: 0

I am expecting to take the server offline for a few hours this week to install a new fan.  It is a REALLY old box, and sounds close to a motorcycle.  So I bought a $4.99 fan, and am going to install it.  I may find some old RAM and install it, too.

So... be expecting some downtime to occur anytime between Wednesday to Sunday (will only be an hour or two at the most)

Thanks  (This ruins my 100% Uptime :< [got an uptime image at the bottom of each page!])...
